Description
Dendrobates tinctorius ‘Green Sipaliwini’ is a striking, medium-to-large dart frog from Suriname, distinguished by its vibrant green coloration, contrasting black patterning, and blue to blue-green legs. This distinctive locale originates from the Sipaliwini region of southern Suriname, where D. tinctorius inhabits humid tropical forests, particularly leaf-littered forest floors and areas with abundant fallen wood. ‘Green Sipaliwini’ is an excellent display frog, combining bold coloration with an inquisitive personality and generally quiet presence. Like other D. tinctorius, this locale is best maintained singly or in compatible pairs, with ample leaf litter, broad-leaved plants, cork hides, and stable humidity with good ventilation. Juveniles readily accept Drosophila melanogaster, while larger frogs can also take Drosophila hydei and other appropriately sized feeders. Captive-bred animals from Holotypica are raised with care and offered only once they are feeding well and established.
