Description
‘Solomon Island green’ emerald tree skinks (Lamprolepis smaragdina) are active, diurnal, arboreal skinks associated with the Solomon Islands form of this widespread species complex. They are bright, alert lizards that thrive in tall, humid, well-planted enclosures with branches, cork, basking access, UVB, and room to move. Emerald tree skinks are one of the most interactive lizards in the pet trade; well-started captive-bred individuals often learn to recognize their keepers and may voluntarily come out of the enclosure to climb, explore, and spend time with people. They feed well on crickets, medium dubia roaches, mealworms, and other appropriately sized insects, with occasional prepared gecko diet or soft fruit. Captive-bred animals from Holotypica are raised with care and offered only once they are feeding well and established.
