Description
Dendrobates tinctorius ‘Patricia’ is a bold, medium-to-large dart frog native to Suriname, with a bright yellow back, dark body patterning, and light blue legs. In the wild, D. tinctorius is associated with humid Guiana Shield forests, especially leaf-littered forest floor habitats and treefall gaps where males transport tadpoles to small water pools. ‘Patricia’ is an excellent display frog with a generally quiet presence, when kept in pairs or singly. This locale prefers vivaria with leaf litter, broad-leaved plants, hides, and stable ventilation. Juveniles feed well on Drosophila melanogaster, while larger animals can also take Drosophila hydei and other appropriately sized feeders. Captive-bred animals from Holotypica are raised with care and offered only once they are feeding well and established.
